Electric Bass and Electric Guitar question?
I want to learn how to play guitar and bass. It has to be squier because they are in my price range and i get a big discount at my local fender dealer. For bass: I would like to know which bass is a better buy Vintage Modified Jazz bass or Deluxe Active Jazz Bass IV? For guitar: I would like to know what is the best squier strat and what is the best squier tele? and betwwen the best strat and the best tele which is a better guitar? Thanks, I will be choosong a best answer if i get replies quickly.

I only play bass on occasions. So I will pass on the bass questions and leave them for the regular bassists.
You ask for the best of guitars. There are no absolute bests. Guitars are not one size fits all. What is best for me, may not be best for you. You need to try them out to determine which is best for you.
Best Squier Strat? The Squier Deluxe Stratocaster and the Squier Classic Vibe are both very good guitars. They have Alinco magnets in the pickups which gives them a vintage Fender US sound. Both have so similar specs that they will play pretty much the same. I like the Deluxe because it comes in some classic Fender colors. The Deluxe is an inexpensive way to get a decent sounding and decent playing Strat in one of the classic Fender colors.
Best Squier Tele? I don't play the Tele nearly as much as the Strat so my experience is more limited. I like the Squier Vintage Modern Tele. It does lose the classic Tele twang, but I still like it. The VM is sort of like the Fender 72 Deluxe Tele reissue in that it has a pair of wide range humbuckers. In all black it is a sharp looking guitar. It feels very comfortable to play. I really like the 72 Deluxe Reissue and this is a decent inexpensive option.
Better Strat or Tele? This is like asking Coke or Pepsi. Those who prefer the Tele can give you their arguments about the classic twang, its hotter pickups and superior sustain. They will tell you that without the tremolo bridge it stays in tune better. On the other hand, the Strat players (and there are many) will tell you the Strat is the most versatile guitar going. They will explain that if you know how to set up the tremolo bridge so it properly floats the Strat will stay in tune just fine. As for me, I will tell you I enjoy playing my sonic blue Tele almost as much as I enjoy playing my surf green Strat.
Since you get a discount on Fender gear, if you need a small amp, take a look at the Mustang II. It is a solid state modeling amp. It has 40 watts of power and a decent 12 inch speaker. Even without a discount, it is not expensive.
