What is the best bass guitar? Epiphone Explorer bass or the Squier Vintage Modified 70's jazz bass?
I live out in the boonies so I can't try out either. I hear the squier is a top of the line squier. So it is better than most other squiers. I play classic rock, metal, and jazz. Mostly classic rock and metal though. Which one has the best sounds. Also is the Explorer a comfortable bass to play? also add any other thing important things.
I've owned both of these basses. I think the Squier is more versatile, and definitely more comfortable to play. The Explorer body shape is cool looking, but kind of awkward. Also, it can have significant neck dive if you're going to use a strap. For what you're looking for the Squire is probably your best bet. It's actually a nice bass regardless of the headstock decal.
That said, I ended up keeping my Explorer and selling the Squier. The only reason is because I already have a MIA Fender Jazz V, so it was superfluous. The Explorer adds to my collection, but I don't think I'd want it as my "only" bass.
Btw, the Explorer body shape also makes it almost impossible to lean up against anything. That's probably my biggest peeve.
