How do you get rid of bridge buzz?
I have a Geddy Lee Jazz Bass, and I recently lowered the action on the bridge. After doing this I started to notice buzzing coming from the bridge when I play the two low strings. It happens no matter what fret I am playing on, but it is not fret buzz. It seems to get better, and then worse. I have raised the action back up thinking that was the problem but it is still there. I recently read online that the saddles can come loose and vibrate. When I took my strings off, the saddles seemed to move up and down easily without any force. Are they supposed to be glued down? I'm stuck in my college town with no real guitar shop so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I'd think the saddles would be held down with string tension. I had a guitar that had a problem with the truss rod and it vibrated at some frequencies - sounding like fret buzz, drove me nuts finding the cause. Are you 100% certain it's the bridge? If so, check for something loose on there. It sounds strange that the problem started when you lowered the action and stayed when you brought it back up. It has to be something loose, but I'd doubt it is the saddles - good luck. I know how frustrating some of these things can be.
