What is the highest note a double bass/bass guitar can play?
I would prefer not to have an answer like a7 or b2. I would like a picture of the note or how many notes above middle c. Sorry if I sound picky.
the last fret on a bass guitar is usually D an octave and a step above middle C, though some bass guitars are made with extra frets. With harmonics most bass players stop at the G above that note, though some players can go higher.
Upright bass finger boards typically go to about G an octave and a fifth above middle C. Some players have fingerboard extension that go up to about C. with natural harmonics you can get up to the G an octave higher. With false harmonics it's possible to go up about another 3 octaves, it depends on the setup of the instrument.
